A productive morning

Today was a day of enforced stay at home, a delivery was booked for sometime during the hours of 7am and 2pm. With this in mind I decided to book an online grocery slot, hey if you got to stay in why not make it for more than one delivery. With this enforced stay at home a morning in the kitchen was planned. I enjoy cooking and make most of our meals from scratch, goodies for the children’s lunch boxes were needed for the following week, usually done on a Saturday or a Sunday but other plans for the weekend would prevent me from doing this.

So to make good use of this time a morning in the kitchen, first up cranberry and white chocolate cookies a recipe adapted from a can of condensed milk. The condensed milk included in these cookies helps to keep them moist and chewy and are a big hit with the gang. Next stem gingernuts, lovely lots of ginger again a big hit with everyone and a great treat in the lunch box. I also got some spicy squash soup on in the slow cooker. My slow cooker is used so much especially with the unpredictable nature of Mr G and his return from work. So tonight’s meal was on and cooking away slowly we need something to go with it. Stromboli I think would go well, so some white bread dough is knocked up and left to prove ready to be transformed later.

Some puff pastry was found, sausage meat arrived in the grocery shop and hey presto sausage rolls, super happy gang members next week.

Finished the morning in the kitchen with a frothy Freddie, a what I hear you say. It is favourite with my two. Dissolve a jelly in a quarter of a pint of water, whisk up a can of evaporated milk add jelly and leave to set. Sometimes I add some mini marshmallows or raspberries, yummy!
