Capturing a moment

Today I had the pleasure of photographing a woman, who celebrating a special birthday this year wanted to capture herself at this moment. She is dancer of middle eastern dance which she discovered later in life, she also enjoys travelling and on these travels has collected many pieces of middle eastern dance costumes, not expensive high end pieces but each piece spoke to her. During the session, each costume was tried on and photographed, portraits as well as the details of beadwork, the sequins, as we worked through each costume, the story of how each piece was acquired, the location of purchase, who it was from was told. Each story was told with such enthusiasm and emotion, every detail was remembered. Although, as she said she may not dance in each outfit, each one holds a special place in her heart and she wanted to capture this part of her life.

I have yet to even start editing the images I captured today, my children needed me, that’s tomorrow’s job, I hope I can portray the sentiment shared during today’s session.
